(316)258-3414

Susan Lewellen was born on February 5th 1980 in Wichita Kansas. As a child she spent most of her time playing with the other girls on the Ottaway show. Susan loved animals and was always finding strays which Rex would not let her keep. Her first work on the carnival was done in the family dime pitch at age seven.

Susan was given a chance to run a ride in the spring of 1994 when she operated a train ride in Shawnee Mission Kansas. She would give breaks to the game workers over the years and in 1997 would start to run Ottaway’s Balloon Dart for three seasons. Susan graduated from Andover High School in 1998. Susan earned her CDL license in 1999. When the Lewellen Amusements carnival was being put together she coined the show motto “Hometown Family Entertainment.”

Susan has managed the show concession wagon from the first week of operation. 2001 was a big year for Susan not only did she buy her first house trailer she also split her first ride, the Skyfighter, with her brother David. When the 2003 season ended Susan was the owner of half of the games on the show. Those games included the Machine Guns, Basketball, Football and Speedball. She now owns a third of the show’s Merry-Go-Round. With her own house and equipment Susan currently has five dogs and two cats, a private little petting zoo. Susan Lewellen’s insight into the common mans’ needs and wants in a carnival has helped to not only start but to improve a growing show in Lewellen Amusements.
