LEWELLEN AMUSEMENTS MIDWAY SAFETY
One of the most important aspects to operating a carnival is Midway Safety. Here at Lewellen Amusements we devote a massive amount of time and energy to insure that are customers not only have a great experience but a safe one as well.
The best way to insure a safe Midway is to have RIDE INSPECTIONS. The first ride inspection is preformed by the ride construction crew foreman. While the ride is being assembled the ride foreman and the crew that handles each piece of the ride visually inspect it for defects or other problems from transport. Once the entire carnival is assembled each ride is then inspected by a federal ride inspector. These inspectors are members of the National Association of Amusement Ride Safety Officials. NAARSO inspectors are sent by the states that require a weekly ride inspection, such as Oklahoma, to examine each ride and give their approval for its operation. When a weekly state inspection is not required, like in Kansas, the show performs its own inspection. Rex and David Lewellen are NAARSO inspectors. Together they inspect the show when state inspectors are unavailable. Finally a third ride inspection is preformed on each ride each day by the ride operator who uses a specialized checklist for his or her ride.
